Vintage Design
Beautiful and very comfortable armchair from Kembo, designed by Willem Gispen in 1952. This refined armchair is a perfect example of Dutch design, made by the well-known brand Kembo and designed by the legendary Willem Gispen in the early 1950s. The frame of the chair is made of anthracite powder-coated bar steel, which provides a sleek and durable base. The legs are finished with rubber furniture caps for extra stability and protection of your floor. The upholstery consists of a beautiful, sturdy soft red leatherette, which is in good used condition without holes or tears. A bit of history: After a disagreement with the shareholders of his own furniture factory, Willem Gispen decided to go his own way and founded Kembo, which stands for “Come First with Us”. His goal was to design even better chairs than those from Gispen’s stable, and he certainly succeeded. The 302, the first design by W.H. Gispen for Kembo immediately won prizes during the Italian Triennial in 1954 and is therefore also called the Gispen/Kembo Triennial. The upholstery of this armchair has been carefully cleaned, and the metal frame has been degreased and polished with metal wax, so that the chair can be used immediately.
