Beautiful Chinese stoneware Celadon vase, probably Longquan, with fluted decoration made during the Ming dynasty, between the 14th and 16th centuries. Characterized by a circular balustrade shape with an open everted edge and low foot. It was decorated with vertical grooves or ribs molded into the lower half. The base is concave and deep. The vase is green in color with a celadon glaze. The unglazed parts have a terracotta brown color on the rim, lower body and foot edge. The piece is unmarked but for similar pieces see the superb book: Chinese Ceramics by He Li published by Thames & Hudson, 1996; pages 164 to 184.
