A superb antique French provincial Malicorne faience teapot from Pouplard-Beatrix, circa 1890. Signed PBx on reverse. This charming tea pot depicts a young Breton woman carrying a basket and umbrella and the opposite side depicts a young Breton man playing a bagpipe. It is hand painted with floral garlands, ermine tails, and geometric designs in cobalt blue. Malicorne pottery was produced in the village of Malicorne-sur-Sarthe, France, a short distance from Quimper.
