19th century French glazed terracotta vessel or pitcher.
A 19th century French green glazed terracotta pottery vessel or pitcher. This unusual vessel has a dragon spout and mask decoration. This vessel was used for milk or as a vinegar pot (vinaigrier). These vessels were most often from the Southwest part of France. Our pot is in good condition with some losses to glaze. These glazed earthenware vessels were used as part of daily life in the French countryside and come in rustic glazes of green, ochre and terracotta. Great as a decorative accessory or used as a vase. Beautiful when several sizes and shapes are grouped together.
