A very collectable and well made, decorative centre table, this is pure art furniture and looks expensive and important from every angle. The carving to the base is second to note, it is hand chiselled from top to bottom, the legs have herms / ships busts followed by pineapple skin and flowers leading up to sea shells, it truly is a work of art and belongs in a museum
The frame is gold gilt fruitwood, it is the original gilding and is very thick and has a wonderful patination. The marble top is Italian Carrara marble and has a light thin vein of grey going through it
The condition is excellent for the period, there is nothing negative to note, it just has a good honest patina all over.
